Aowanda Suspension Bridge, Footbridge in Ren'ai Township, Taiwan
The Aowanda Suspension Bridge extends 180 meters across the Bei River and rises 90 meters above the water with metal mesh barriers on each side.
The bridge stands within the Aowanda National Forest Recreation Area, which encompasses 2,787 hectares of land and includes seven mountain peaks in Nantou County.
The Aowanda region represents the traditional territory of the Seediq people, whose presence shaped the development of Ren'ai Township through generations.
Monthly inspections by the Forestry Bureau maintain the bridge's safety standards, while visitors access the site via bus services from Taichung City.
The bridge connects to numerous hiking trails that lead to observation points for viewing 120 bird species, including the Taiwan blue magpie.
