Nenggao Waterfall

Nenggao Waterfall drops in three distinct tiers over about 200 meters, nestled within dense forest at roughly 2,800 meters elevation. The water cascades down in several stages, creating a dramatic natural display within this mountainous region.

The waterfall connects to a historic ridge trail that served the Sediq people as a hunting route until 1917. This path was an important mountain crossing for local communities throughout that period.

The waterfall area holds deep meaning for Taiwan's indigenous communities, who have woven this place into their spiritual beliefs and daily practices. Local groups today still connect with this space as part of their relationship with the land.

Visitors reach the waterfall via Gaoyueling Road and marked hiking trails, with the best viewing time coming after rainfall when water flow increases. The terrain is steep and hilly, so good physical fitness helps with the visit.

The name Husband and Wife Falls comes from the pattern of water splitting into two parallel streams. These separate flows cascade down at different levels before merging together again.
