Fugang Geopark

Fugang Geopark is a coastal geopark in Taitung featuring rock formations, walking trails, and viewing areas that face the Pacific Ocean. The site extends along the eastern coast and provides access to diverse geological structures that can be explored from the Xiaoyeliu Visitor Center.

The geopark was officially established in November 2020 as part of Taiwan's commitment to geological conservation and education. This designation marked a turning point in recognizing the scientific and educational value of this coastal landscape.

Fugang Port remains a working fishing hub where daily departures connect to Green Island and Orchid Island, reflecting how local life is tied to the sea and coastal geography. The presence of active boats and fishery activities shows how communities here have long depended on these waters.

The site is easily accessible by direct bus routes from Taitung Station, with the Xiaoyeliu Visitor Center providing orientation and maps. If exploring multiple areas, plan for adequate time as trails are spread along the coastline.

Night tours between April and October offer chances to observe nocturnal wildlife in their natural habitat. During these tours, rock formations are illuminated, revealing geological structures under the starry sky in distinctive ways.
