Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Lviv

The Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Lviv is a Greek-Catholic church structure providing religious services across western Ukraine. Its principal church stands at Saint George's Square and oversees multiple parishes in the surrounding region.

This church institution started in 1539 as an Eastern church and joined the Catholic community in 1700. It received metropolitan rank in 1807 and later operated underground during the Soviet period from 1946 to 1989.

Saint George's Cathedral stands at the center of this Greek-Catholic community's religious life in the city. Visitors observe Eastern liturgical traditions woven together with Catholic faith.
