Transfiguration Cathedral, Eastern Orthodox cathedral in central Dnipro, Ukraine
The T-shaped cathedral features five naves crowned by a large central dome, displaying white neoclassical architectural elements and multiple golden crosses.
Russian Empress Catherine II and Austrian Emperor Joseph II laid the foundation stone in 1787, marking the beginning of construction that lasted until 1835.
The cathedral maintains its position as the central religious structure of the Dnipropetrovsk Diocese, conducting regular Orthodox services and ceremonies throughout the year.
The cathedral opens daily for prayer and visits, offering guided tours that explain the religious significance of its restored iconostasis and interior decorations.
During World War II, the cathedral functioned as a museum while sustaining damage from bombing, yet preserved many of its original architectural features.
