Chornomorske, Settlement and military base in Odesa Oblast, Ukraine
Chornomorske is a small coastal settlement in Odesa Oblast located along the Black Sea shore. The town occupies a narrow strip of land between the sea and inland areas, serving as a residential community for its inhabitants.
The settlement was called Hvardiyske until 1978, when it received its current name. Its development has been shaped by its position on the Black Sea coast.
The 28th Mechanized Brigade maintains its military presence in Chornomorske, making it a central location for Ukrainian armed forces in the region.
The town is connected to neighboring areas by regular bus services and offers basic amenities for visitors. Walking is easy for exploring the waterfront and coastal areas nearby.
The settlement was long classified as urban in type before it shifted to rural status administratively in 2024. This reclassification shows how the place has changed over time.
