Lypske, Urban settlement in Makiivka Hromada, Ukraine
Lypske is an urban-type settlement in the Makiivka Hromada administrative district in eastern Ukraine. The terrain rises and falls across the landscape, with buildings and roads adapted to the sloping ground that gives the settlement its varied character.
The settlement was founded in 1705 during a period of significant transitions in eastern Ukraine's territories. This origin marked the start of its long presence in the region under different administrative systems over the centuries.
The 2001 census revealed that residents of Lypske primarily communicate in Ukrainian, with a smaller portion of the population speaking Russian as their first language.
Local public services operate through the Makiivka City Council, which manages utilities and community functions. The settlement functions as a small urban center, so basic amenities are available though the pace and scope differ from larger cities.
Control over Lypske shifted multiple times during regional conflicts, with Ukrainian forces reclaiming authority over the territory in November 2022.
