Kurdiumivka, Urban settlement in Donetsk Oblast, Ukraine
Kurdiumivka is an urban-type settlement in Donetsk Oblast located in eastern Ukraine. The community sits near the Siverskyi Donets-Donbas Canal, a key waterway that runs through the region.
The settlement was founded in 1936 around a railway station that connected the region to broader transport networks. It came under German control from October 1941 and remained occupied until September 1943 during World War II.
The settlement displayed a linguistic distribution where Ukrainian speakers represented 51.25 percent and Russian speakers constituted 48.49 percent of residents in 2001.
The area features relatively flat terrain with gentle slopes and is shaped by canal systems that affect movement through the region. Visitors should be prepared for damp ground conditions and varying weather depending on the season.
In 2023, Kurdiumivka, along with many similar settlements, underwent administrative changes as Ukraine reformed its classification system for populated areas.
