Proletarskyi

The settlement occupies a position in the southern section of Luhansk Oblast near industrial facilities at an elevation of 279 meters above sea level.

Founded in 1922 near Kartushyne railway station, the settlement received its urban-type classification in 1938 during the Soviet administrative development period.

The settlement changed its name from Proletarskyi to Kartushyne in 2016 following Ukraine's implementation of decommunization legislation to remove Soviet-era references.

The settlement maintains a population of 1,550 residents as of 2022, with postal code 94779 and area code +380 6433 for local communications.

The local coal mines that supported the settlement's economy became depleted by 2008, leading residents to seek employment in neighboring mining operations.
