The Forest and Timber Rafting Museum features traditional tools, equipment, and mechanisms used for logging and timber transportation in the Carpathian Mountains region.

Built in 1868 as a hydroelectric dam by Austrian engineer Klaus, the structure served for timber transportation along the Black River until 1954.

The museum preserves the heritage of bokorash workers, who specialized in guiding timber rafts down the mountain rivers of the Carpathian region.

The museum stands within the Synevyr National Nature Park, accessible by bus from Volovets railway station or by car through mountain roads.

The wooden dam structure contains original mechanisms for water release, making it one of only two such preserved timber floating systems in the world.
