Tendra Lighthouse, Maritime navigational structure on Tendra Spit, Ukraine
Tendra Lighthouse is a stone structure rising 31 meters from Tendra Spit, a narrow strip of land extending into the sea. A spiral staircase inside contains 104 steps that wind up to the observation platform at the top.
Built in 1827, the lighthouse served as a navigation marker for vessels traveling between the Black Sea and Odessa port. The original stone structure has remained unchanged through the centuries, though its lighting systems have been updated.
The lighthouse represents maritime engineering from the early 19th century and holds recognition as the oldest navigational structure in southern Ukraine.
Getting there requires a boat ride from Zaliznyi Port, with each journey taking roughly three hours. Organized tours are the main way to visit since the spit can only be reached by water.
The structure operates without modifications to its initial construction, though modern lighting equipment replaced the original navigation systems.
