Folkestone and Hythe District, Administrative district in Kent, England
Folkestone and Hythe District spans across coastal towns and rural areas, stretching from the North Downs hills to the Romney Marsh lowlands.
The district formed in 1974 through the merger of six former administrative areas, including the municipal boroughs of Folkestone, Hythe, Lydd, and New Romney.
The district maintains multiple town councils and parish meetings, enabling local communities to participate in governance and decision-making processes.
The area connects to major transportation networks through the M20 motorway, domestic rail services, and the Channel Tunnel terminal for European travel.
The district changed its name from Shepway to Folkestone and Hythe in 2018 to increase recognition and promote regional development.
