Caledonia Cascade

Caledonia Cascade is a tiered waterfall in Tallulah Gorge that drops across multiple rock faces in successive stages. The water moves through distinct levels as it falls down the steep walls of the gorge.

European settlers first documented the waterfall in the 19th century while mapping water resources in the region. It has since become a recognized landmark in the local landscape.

Local communities organize annual hiking events around the cascade, promoting environmental education and the preservation of Rabun County natural resources.

To reach the waterfall, follow the rim trail from the parking area at the trailhead entrance. The hike is moderately challenging and requires standard outdoor gear.

The water volume changes dramatically with rainfall and seasons, creating different visual effects across the rock tiers. After heavy rain the waterfall appears far more powerful and forceful.
