Agecroft Hall, Tudor manor house in Windsor Farms, Richmond, US.
Agecroft Hall is a Tudor-style manor house that was transported from England to Richmond. The building features half-timbered walls, mullioned windows, and ornamental chimneys set on extensive grounds overlooking the James River.
A businessman purchased the original building in Lancashire in 1925, had it dismantled, and reassembled it in Richmond. The ambitious undertaking was completed by 1928, moving an English manor to America.
The rooms display furniture, textiles, and objects from the Tudor era that show how English nobility lived. Visitors experience the domestic spaces and daily customs of wealthy families from that period.
You can explore the grounds on foot, moving between the house and gardens at your own pace. The site is easy to navigate, with plenty of time to wander the large property and linger at scenic spots overlooking the river.
The gardens blend English design principles with plants that thrive along the river shoreline. A landscape architect created spaces that feel traditionally English while reflecting the local environment.
