Tuckahoe Apartments is a six-story brick structure in Westhampton containing 59 units with original features such as parlors, galleries, solaria, and roof terraces. The entire property spans approximately 1.8 acres and preserves these historical architectural elements throughout.
Architect W. Duncan Lee designed and built this structure between 1928 and 1929 as a luxury apartment-hotel for city and suburban residents. It remains his largest known project and shaped the character of this neighborhood.
The design draws from colonial Virginia plantation traditions and reflects what wealthy Richmond residents valued during the early twentieth century. Visitors can still see these historical influences in the facade details and outdoor spaces today.
