Westbourne

Westbourne is a Georgian Revival residential mansion in Richmond featuring red brick with a central block, two-story wings, and a hipped slate roof. The property sits on approximately 2 acres and includes gardens designed by landscape architect Charles F. Gillette.

Architect W. Duncan Lee designed the residence in 1915 for businessman Abram L. McClellan, with construction completed in 1919. The design followed Georgian Revival principles popular in early 20th century Richmond.

The portico with Corinthian columns on the north side shows how wealthy Richmond residents displayed their taste and status in the early 1900s. Walking around the exterior, you can observe how such grand architectural details set these homes apart from ordinary residences.

The property is located on Oak Lane and visible from the street, with the landscaping maintaining original design features. Keep in mind this is a private residence, so access to the interior and grounds is limited.
