Carew Tower

Carew Tower is a 49-story skyscraper in downtown Cincinnati standing 175 meters tall with distinctive Art Deco features on its facade. The building includes an observation deck at the top and 14 elevators that move visitors upward throughout the structure.

Construction started in September 1929, just before the stock market crash, which forced changes to the original design during the Great Depression. Despite these economic challenges, the project was completed successfully and shaped Cincinnati's skyline.

The building houses the Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza hotel, which features the Hall of Mirrors, a room with elaborate mirror work and ornamental details that has impressed visitors over the decades.

Access to the observation deck involves taking elevators to the 45th floor, from which visitors can continue upward to the viewing area. It is wise to expect waits during peak hours and wear comfortable shoes for the experience.

The building was constructed in just a few months and set a record in the early 1930s for rapid completion at this scale. This construction pace was remarkable despite the difficult economic conditions of that era.
