Alpine Bobsled, Steel bobsled roller coaster at Six Flags Great Escape, Queensbury, United States.
Alpine Bobsled is a steel bobsled-style coaster that transports riders along a trough-shaped track spanning approximately 1,490 feet without inversions. The ride reaches speeds of 35 miles per hour (56 kilometers per hour) and climbs to a height of 64 feet (19 meters).
The ride first opened in 1984 at Six Flags Great Adventure under the name Sarajevo Bobsled, marking the start of its journey. It relocated to Great America in 1989 and then moved again to Great Escape in 1998, where it operates today.
The six cars display flags representing different nations, creating an international spirit throughout the ride. Visitors notice symbols from the United Kingdom, the United States, Italy, Jamaica, Canada, and Switzerland as they board.
The ride accommodates eight passengers per trip arranged in four rows with two seats each. The entire journey lasts roughly 100 seconds, making it a quick experience suitable for those seeking moderate thrills without extreme intensity.
The boarding station features a 19th-century alpine ski lodge design that transports visitors to an older era of winter sports. An original Olympic-style bobsled is displayed at the entrance, giving context to the mountain heritage theme.
