Canyon Blaster, Steel roller coaster in Lake George, New York, US.
Canyon Blaster is a steel roller coaster at Great Escape park near Lake George, New York, with two lift hills and a double helix track layout. The ride lasts around two minutes and reaches a top speed of about 45 miles per hour (72 km/h) along roughly 2,000 feet (600 m) of track.
The coaster first opened in 1972 under the name Timber Topper at Opryland USA in Nashville, where it ran for over two decades before closing in 1997. It was then dismantled, moved, and fully rebuilt at Great Escape in 2003.
The track is decorated with Western props like stagecoaches, steam trains, and mining tools that fit the park's Ghosttown theme. These details are visible throughout the ride and give the whole experience a consistent Western feel.
Riders must be at least 42 inches (107 cm) tall to board this attraction. Getting in line early in the day usually means a shorter wait, especially during busy summer weekends.
During the summer of 2013, the coaster ran backward for a short period, giving riders a completely different view of the track. This experiment has not been repeated since then.
