Canyon Blaster, Steel roller coaster in Lake George, New York, US.
Canyon Blaster is a steel roller coaster at Great Escape park near Lake George that features two lift hills and a double helix track configuration. The ride lasts about two and a half minutes and reaches speeds of about 45 miles per hour across roughly 2,000 feet of track.
The coaster began operating as Timber Topper at Opryland USA theme park in Nashville from 1972 and ran there until 1997. It was relocated and rebuilt at Great Escape in 2003.
The track displays Western decorations including stagecoaches, steam trains, and mining equipment that fit the park's Ghosttown theme. Visitors see these details throughout the ride and feel the Western setting during the entire experience.
Visitors must be at least 42 inches (107 centimeters) tall to ride this attraction. It helps to visit the coaster early in the day when lines tend to be shorter.
During the summer of 2013, the coaster operated backward for a limited time, giving riders a completely new perspective. This experiment was available only briefly and has not been repeated since.
