Monowi is a village in Boyd County in northeastern Nebraska, located between the Niobrara River and the Missouri River. The municipal area covers roughly one half of a square kilometer at an elevation of about 400 meters.
The settlement was founded in 1903 during railway expansion, and during the 1930s up to 150 people lived here. The population declined steadily afterward until only one person remained.
The name comes from the Iowa Native American language, meaning either „earth or water
