Camp Randall Stadium, Football stadium at University of Wisconsin, Madison, US
Camp Randall Stadium is a venue for American football at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, offering space for more than eighty thousand spectators. The structure spans two levels and includes offices, training rooms, and facilities for university athletes.
The grounds served as a Union Army training camp from 1861 and were converted into a sports field in 1893. The current facility emerged through gradual expansions and rebuilds over more than a century.
The name recalls the military camp from 1861, while today students and supporters fill the stands in red and white. Game day atmosphere is shaped by chants and cheers that echo across the entire grounds, playing a fixed role in the rhythm of the city.
The complex sits on Monroe Street and includes several buildings with training facilities and administrative spaces. Visitors find entrances on different sides and areas for events outside game days.
The south stand was completely rebuilt in the early 21st century and changed the shape of the entire facility. Today the upper tiers rise well above surrounding rooftops and shape the cityscape on game days.
