Minersville, Administrative borough in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, United States.

Minersville is an administrative borough in Schuylkill County in eastern Pennsylvania, spread across approximately 1.1 square kilometers. The community sits roughly 50 miles west of Allentown and about 100 miles from Philadelphia.

The settlement began in 1783 when Adolph Oliver Busch built a log cabin and sawmill near the Schuylkill River. The discovery of anthracite coal deposits around 1799 later sparked a thriving mining industry that transformed the region.

The name Minersville reflects the historical importance of coal mining, which shaped the daily life and identity of the community. Today, visitors can still see traces of this mining past in the architecture and streets.

The borough is easy to explore on foot since most areas are walkable and streets are straightforward to navigate. Visitors should note this is a small, quiet community best explored during daylight hours.

The local school district was involved in a 1940 court case that addressed fundamental questions about religious freedom in education and gained national attention. This case established an important precedent for school policy across the United States.
