Gateway Geyser

Gateway Geyser is a water fountain in East St. Louis, Illinois that propels water high into the air with powerful jets. The structure sits within a landscaped area featuring smaller fountains that frame the main water display.

The Gateway Center of Metropolitan St. Louis was founded in 1968 to develop this fountain across the water from downtown. It emerged as a modern landmark celebrating the city's position at a major river junction.

Four smaller fountains surrounding the central geyser represent the four rivers that meet in this region: the Mississippi, Missouri, Illinois, and Meramec. When you visit, you notice how these water features mirror the geographic importance of the location.

The fountain sits near Interstate highways I-55, I-70, and I-64, accessible by taking Exit 2A and following West Broadway. A designated parking area is located directly at the site for easy visitor access.

This is the tallest fountain in North America and stands directly across from the Gateway Arch at matching heights. The alignment between these two structures creates a striking visual symmetry along the waterfront.
