Hudson Yards, Mixed-use development district in West Manhattan, United States.
Hudson Yards is a residential neighborhood in Manhattan between West 30th and West 34th Streets, west of 10th Avenue, featuring office towers, residential buildings, and a shopping complex. Streets run directly beside the High Line, and open plazas connect the buildings to one another.
The railroad tracks on this site were built starting in the 1860s to bring trains into central Manhattan, and remained in operation for over 150 years. The first residential tower was completed in 2016 after the platform over the tracks was erected.
The Vessel, a climbable copper sculpture, draws visitors who walk its 154 stairs to view the neighborhood from different heights. The Shops bring together stores and restaurants used daily by locals and travelers, creating a busy weekday rhythm.
The 7 subway station sits directly below the buildings, offering quick connections to Times Square and Grand Central Terminal. Walking paths lead to the High Line and surrounding city blocks, letting visitors reach Chelsea or Midtown on foot within minutes.
The name comes from the freight yards that once ran beside the Hudson River, bringing cargo into the city. Some trains still pass beneath the buildings today, delivering mail and packages to the area.
