Renegade, Wooden roller coaster in Valleyfair, Shakopee, Minnesota
Renegade is a wooden roller coaster at Valleyfair amusement park in Shakopee, Minnesota. The ride twists and turns through the park with towering structures visible from outside the park grounds.
The ride opened in 2007 as a new addition to the park and followed modern standards for wooden roller coasters. It was an important expansion of the park's attractions that year.
The Discovery Channel featured the construction and engineering aspects of this roller coaster in their Build It Bigger program during July 2007.
The ride is best experienced in dry conditions, as the wooden structure can become slippery after rain. Expect larger crowds on warm days and weekends.
The first descent features an S-shaped drop that changes direction mid-fall, followed by a high-speed pass near the station before conclusion.
