200 Vesey Street, Office skyscraper in Lower Manhattan, United States
200 Vesey Street is a modern glass tower with 51 floors and a distinctive pyramid roof within the Brookfield Place complex. The building provides approximately 2.1 million square feet of office space for commercial tenants.
Construction began in 1985 under architect César Pelli and was completed and opened in 1986 as Three World Financial Center. The structure became a defining feature of the Lower Manhattan skyline over the following decades.
The building houses the Eleven Tears Memorial, honoring American Express employees who died on September 11, 2001. This space offers visitors a place for quiet reflection within the financial district.
The building connects to multiple subway lines through the Fulton Center Transit hub, providing easy access for visitors. The surrounding walkways offer clear views of the roof and allow you to appreciate the architectural form from different angles.
Despite severe roof damage during the September 11, 2001 attacks, the building maintained its structural integrity and allowed occupants to return within weeks. This resilience stands as a quiet testament to the quality of its construction.
