Six World Trade Center, High-rise building in Lower Manhattan, US.
Six World Trade Center was an eight-story tower at the northeastern edge of the World Trade Center complex, featuring modern design by Emery Roth & Sons. Connected walkways linked it to neighboring buildings, allowing people to move through the complex without stepping outside.
The building opened on April 4, 1973, as part of David Rockefeller's vision to make New York City a global business hub. It suffered severe damage during the September 11, 2001 attacks from the collapse of the adjacent North Tower.
The building served international business and diplomacy, with offices housing trade organizations and foreign representatives who conducted daily operations from its spaces.
The building could be accessed through multiple entrances and was well integrated into the World Trade Center complex infrastructure. Access was typically limited to business hours since it mainly housed office spaces.
This building was one of the smaller structures within the World Trade Center complex and is often overlooked in accounts of the site's history. Its more modest scale contrasted sharply with the iconic Twin Towers that dominated the plaza.
