Congressional Country Club, Private golf course in Bethesda, US.
Congressional Country Club is a private golf course in Bethesda, Montgomery County, Maryland. The Blue Course stretches 6,600 meters (7,215 yards) and combines wide fairways with long sections of fescue grass and strategically positioned bunkers.
The club was founded in 1924 and quickly developed into a venue for national golf championships. The first U.S. Open took place on the grounds in 1964, bringing the course national recognition.
The course sits within the Washington capital region and draws members from political circles and the business world. Beyond the sport itself, members use the clubhouse for social gatherings and networking events that form part of daily life in this exclusive community.
The facility is accessible only to members and their invited guests. Visitors to the club will find two championship courses, indoor practice areas, tennis courts and a large clubhouse with restaurants.
In 2020, architect Andrew Green redesigned the Blue Course, removing numerous trees to restore the original view across the holes. This transformation improved the course's position in national rankings considerably.
