Rock Island State Park, State park on Lake Michigan island, Door County, US
Rock Island State Park spans 906 acres of forested land with ten miles of hiking trails along Lake Michigan's rocky shoreline and sandy beaches.
The Pottawatomie Lighthouse, constructed in 1836, stands as Wisconsin's oldest lighthouse and continues to mark maritime routes through Lake Michigan's waters.
The park preserves multiple Native American archaeological sites and the Thordarson great hall, reflecting centuries of human presence on this remote island.
Access to the park requires two ferry rides, and visitors must carry all camping supplies to one of forty primitive tent sites near drinking water stations.
The park's stone boathouse, built in 1929, features Norse-influenced architecture and remains the largest public boathouse in Wisconsin.
