Stafford Township, Administrative division in Ocean County, New Jersey.
Stafford Township is an administrative division in Ocean County, New Jersey, located in the southern part of the county with a varied landscape of residential areas, lakes, and coastal environments. The township encompasses several smaller communities and contains both rural and more developed regions.
The township was established by royal charter in 1750, created from portions of Shrewsbury Township in Monmouth County. This founding marked the beginning of its development from an early colonial area into the modern municipality it is today.
The township arranges a Founders Day celebration each June with a hometown parade, fireworks display, and community gatherings.
The area is served by two school districts that provide education from pre-kindergarten through grade twelve across different regions. Knowing which schools serve which communities can be helpful when traveling through the township with families.
The area is home to several unincorporated communities such as Beach Haven West and Manahawkin, which comprise significant portions of the township's population. Ocean Acres is one of these communities that straddles the boundary between this township and neighboring Barnegat.
