Amanda Blake Store

Amanda Blake Store is a two-story brick building at 104 Main Street that displays Victorian architectural details from the 1880s. The structure features tall windows on its front facade and period-appropriate woodwork that reflect how commercial buildings were designed in late 19th-century New Jersey.

William Blake built this structure in 1884 for his daughter Amanda, who managed it and later became postmistress from 1918 to 1940. The establishment served Port Republic as an important center for shopping and postal services for many years.

The establishment functioned as a gathering place for the Independent Order of Mechanics and community meetings during evening hours.

The building sits in central Port Republic and remains easy to spot along Main Street, though it now functions as a private residence. Visitors should view it from the street as it is not open to the public for interior access.

The building housed multiple businesses under one roof, serving as both a general store and millinery shop while also containing the post office.
