Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City, Casino resort in Atlantic City, United States
Trump Taj Mahal is an architectural structure in New Jersey, United States, serving as a casino and hotel. The interior shows elements like large chandeliers, marble floors, and ornaments reminiscent of South Asian building styles.
Construction began in 1983 under Resorts International with a $250 million budget; Donald Trump bought the unfinished project in 1988 for $273 million and opened it on April 2, 1990, with 11,000 m² of gaming space. After closing on October 10, 2016, it was purchased by Hard Rock International and the Morris and Jingoli families and reopened on June 27, 2018.
The Etess Arena, named for Mark G. Etess, a Trump Organization executive killed in an October 1989 helicopter crash, now operates as Hard Rock Live. The casino hosted UFC 31 and UFC 32 in 2001, the first UFC cards under Dana White. In 2013 it opened Scores, the country's first in-casino strip club.
The building sits directly on the Atlantic City boardwalk and is within walking distance of other casinos and hotels. Visitors find restaurants, gaming areas, and event spaces today used for different kinds of performances and gatherings.
The building hosted several UFC fights in the early 2000s, including UFC 31 and UFC 32. These events helped bring mixed martial arts to wider attention on the East Coast.
