Construction of Island Waterpark at Showboat
The Island Waterpark construction at Showboat is a major building project for an indoor water park that operates year-round with more than 100,000 square feet of space. The facility features a large movable glass roof, eleven water slides, a FlowRider wave machine, an indoor zipline, a small roller coaster, dining establishments, and shopping areas.
The project was planned by businessman Bart Blatstein of Tower Investments Inc. and announced in 2022 to revitalize the former Showboat casino complex as a family-friendly destination. Construction commenced and the park officially opened to the public on July 4, 2023, marking a new chapter for Atlantic City's entertainment offerings.
The park draws its design from the classic Atlantic City boardwalk theme, creating the feeling of stepping into a seaside town atmosphere. It serves as a gathering place for families seeking indoor recreation and entertainment during all seasons, reflecting the city's effort to rebuild its appeal as a family destination.
The park operates year-round indoors, making it accessible regardless of weather conditions, and sits conveniently next to the boardwalk for easy access. Multiple dining and bar options are located throughout the space, allowing visitors to spend an entire day without needing to leave the facility.
The park features an indoor zipline that allows visitors to soar above the water high in the air, along with a dedicated Twitch streaming zone for video game enthusiasts. This blend of classic water attractions and modern gaming technology offers a combined experience not typically found at traditional water parks.
