Historic Smithville, New Jersey, Colonial-style tourist village in Galloway Township, United States.
Historic Smithville is a recreated village with over 60 shops and restaurants arranged around Lake Meone, connected by cobblestone walkways and footbridges. The layout spreads across the waterfront with multiple dining and retail sections that allow visitors to move easily between different areas.
The original building, Smithville Inn, was built in 1787 as a stagecoach stop and served travelers on their journeys. In the 1950s, the Noyes family purchased it and converted it into a restaurant, which became the foundation for the present-day village.
The village hosts regular weekend events, including festivals and seasonal celebrations, that draw visitors and locals together throughout the year. These gatherings show how the place serves as a gathering point where people come to spend time and mark special occasions.
The location sits about 40 minutes southwest of Atlantic City and is easily reached by car. Visitors will find four main restaurants along with various casual eateries and shops, most operating from morning into evening.
The place offers unusual ways to explore the grounds, including carousel rides, a miniature train, and paddle boats on the lake. These different modes of travel make visiting feel more like play than a standard shopping trip.
