680 N Lake Shore Drive, Art Deco skyscraper in Streeterville, Chicago, United States
The 29-story structure at 680 North Lake Shore Drive extends across an entire block between Lake Shore Drive and McClurg Court in downtown Chicago.
Constructed in 1926 as the American Furniture Mart, the building was designed by architects Raeder, George C. Nimmons, and Max Dunning in two distinct sections.
The building represents the evolution of Chicago architecture, transforming from a furniture mart into a modern mixed-use complex with residences and offices.
The structure contains 415 residential units, 420,000 square feet of office space, 65,000 square feet of retail space, and seven levels of indoor parking.
The building's address changed from 666 to 680 North Lake Shore Drive in 1988 when Chemical Bank acquired the property during financial restructuring.
