Bouquet Gardens, University dormitory in Pittsburgh, United States
Bouquet Gardens is a residential complex consisting of eight four-story buildings with gabled roofs and one modern apartment-style residence hall arranged around connected courtyards with interior walkways. The buildings form a cohesive living space with numerous units designed to accommodate different student housing needs.
The site was acquired in 1967 by the Pennsylvania General State Authority through eminent domain to support the University of Pittsburgh's expansion as a state-related institution. This acquisition was part of a broader urban development initiative in the Oakland area.
The brick buildings reflect the neighborhood's architectural character with design choices typical of South Oakland's residential areas.
The complex is accessible through multiple entrances and features clearly marked interior pathways connecting the buildings and courtyards. Visitors should explore the walkways during daylight hours and follow standard campus visiting guidelines.
Building J, added in 2011, houses 155 beds across 48 apartment units and features shared amenities used by all complex residents for gatherings and community activities. This newer structure was designed specifically to foster social connections among students.
