Carroll County Courthouse

Carroll County Courthouse is a sandstone structure featuring a mansard roof, Corinthian columns at the entrance portico, and a central tower with a dome and clock faces. The four-story building sits on Public Square and includes a jail facility within its later addition.

The structure was built between 1884 and 1885, replacing an earlier brick courthouse that served the county since 1834. This replacement marked a major modernization effort for county administration.

The building functions as a focal point for the community and reflects the classical design typical of American county seats. Visitors and residents encounter it as a symbol of local governance and civic life in the area.
