Fall Hill, Historic plantation in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
The Fall Hill mansion features Georgian architecture with two stories, a central hall, and two large rooms on each side of the building.
The property, part of an 8,000-acre land patent obtained around 1720, became home to the Thornton family who constructed the present house in 1790.
The mansion exhibits randomly glazed Flemish bond brickwork on its exterior walls and incorporates Doric columns added to the porches during the 1800s.
The historical site, located near the Rappahannock River falls, received recognition on the National Register of Historic Places in June 1973.
During the Fredericksburg Campaign of the Civil War, the property's strategic position led to the construction of fortifications along the river.
