The Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center spans 220,000 square feet with four venues featuring advanced audio, video, lighting, and computer technologies.
Following a donation from Curtis Priem, RPI graduate of 1982, the construction began in 2003 and required 215 rock anchors for foundation stability.
The center combines scientific research with artistic expression through programs connecting technology, performing arts, and experimental media productions.
The main concert hall accommodates 1,200 people, while the theater offers 400 seats with an 80-foot by 40-foot stage and computer-controlled rigging systems.
The building features a Nomex fire-retardant fabric ceiling canopy that enhances sound wave reflection throughout the performance spaces.
