Fay Club

The Fay Club is a three-story Gothic Revival house in Fitchburg with elaborate wooden details and decorated trim throughout. The interior displays ornamental fireplaces, stained glass windows, and retains many of its original architectural features from when it was built.

The house was built in 1884 under the direction of architect Richard M. Upjohn, reflecting the building style of that era. It then served as a social gathering place for over 100 years before eventually gaining protection as a historic landmark.

The building functioned as a gathering spot for business leaders and social circles in the region. Visitors can still see the rooms where people met to conduct affairs and spend time together.

The building is accessible and maintains its three-story layout, allowing visitors to explore all areas at a reasonable pace. Plan enough time to look closely at details in each room and appreciate the craftsmanship of the decorative finishes.

Architecture students from Fitchburg State University study this building as a key example to understand Gothic Revival style. It serves as a primary teaching resource for examining how this architectural approach was applied locally.
