My Dinh National Stadium, National sports stadium in Nam Tu Liem, Vietnam
My Dinh National Stadium is a rectangular sports ground in Nam Tu Liem, Vietnam, with 40,192 seats. Two covered stands on the east and west sides offer shelter from rain and sun for spectators during football games.
Construction began in 2002 and the opening took place in September 2003. The opening ceremony of the 22nd Southeast Asian Games marked the first major event at this venue.
The venue takes its name from the My Dinh neighborhood and serves as the setting for World Cup qualification matches. During major games, supporters fill both covered stands and show their backing through songs and coordinated displays.
The venue sits in Hanoi's Nam Tu Liem district within the 20-hectare National Sports Complex. Parking spaces are available around the complex.
Vietnam's tropical weather makes grass care difficult and requires regular renewal of the playing surface. During the rainy season, the turf can become especially prone to wear.
