The stadium contains 40,192 seats and features two covered grandstands on the east and west sides of the rectangular sporting field.
Built in 2002 and inaugurated in September 2003, the stadium served as the main venue for the 22nd Southeast Asian Games opening ceremonies.
The stadium functions as the home ground for Vietnam's national football team and hosts international matches throughout the competitive season.
