Description
Tam Đảo is a mountain range spanning three provinces and covered with steep slopes and dense forests. The area is crisscrossed by hiking trails that connect small villages and temples scattered throughout the landscape.
History
The region was developed in the early 1900s by French colonists who built churches and homes in European style as a mountain retreat. Many of these historic structures remain visible throughout the area today.
Culture
The site has long attracted Buddhist pilgrims who visit the pagodas nestled throughout the hills. These temples shape the appearance of the area and show how faith remains woven into daily life here.
Practical
The climate here is noticeably cooler than in Hanoi and suits visits during warmer months better. Good footwear is necessary for steep paths and forest trails.
