Chợ Tân Bình, Central marketplace in Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
Chợ Tân Bình is a large covered market in the Tân Bình District of Ho Chi Minh City, with nine entrances and around 3,000 stalls. The stalls are organized into sections covering textiles, fresh produce, household goods, and a wide range of everyday products.
The market started as a small local trading spot in the district in 1960. A major renovation between 1982 and 1985 expanded it into one of the largest commercial spaces in the city.
The market has a whole section dedicated to wedding clothing, where Western bridal gowns hang alongside the traditional Áo Dài. Walking through this part gives a direct sense of how central wedding attire is to daily life in the city.
The market sits on Ly Thuong Kiet Street and opens early in the morning, with the fresh produce sections active from the start of the day. Coming in the early hours means a fresher selection and fewer people in the aisles.
The streets surrounding the market, such as Ly Thuong Kiet and Le Minh Xuan, form a dedicated textile zone with many fabric shops. This area is a go-to spot for cloth buyers and fashion producers across the city.
