Nguyễn Tri Phương Bridge, Transportation bridge in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Nguyễn Tri Phương Bridge connects Districts 5 and 8 across the Saigon River in Ho Chi Minh City with six traffic lanes handling heavy urban traffic flow. The structure uses cantilever spans across the river channel combined with precast beam sections for the longer approaches.
Construction began in 2011 and the bridge opened to traffic in 2013 to accommodate growing transportation demands between the two districts. The project was completed by a major Vietnamese construction firm as part of the city's infrastructure expansion.
The bridge bears the name of a notable Vietnamese historical figure and represents the connection between different communities within Ho Chi Minh City.
The bridge connects directly to Võ Văn Kiệt Road and provides access toward District 1, making it a key link in the city's traffic system. Pedestrians can cross using designated pathways on both sides of the roadway.
Three large prestressed cantilever spans extend from the middle of the river to reach both banks, an engineering solution that allows river traffic to pass freely underneath. This approach was chosen to minimize obstruction to boat navigation during construction and after opening.
