Arctic Circle Raceway, Arctic Circle
Arctic Circle Raceway is a racing track in Rana Municipality in northern Norway that stretches nearly one kilometer over rolling terrain with sharp climbs and descents. The facility features a well-equipped pit lane, grandstands along the main straight, and safe spectator areas positioned around the circuit.
The raceway opened in 1995 on the site of a former iron-ore mine, using excavated material to stabilize the ground and manage drainage. Originally designed for motorcycle racing, it has evolved into a versatile venue that also hosts international touring car competitions.
The raceway has become a gathering place for motorsport fans from the region, where families and friends come together to watch races and share their passion for speed and competition. On race weekends, the venue fills with people who value the community experience as much as the driving action itself.
Visiting is most comfortable during the summer months when long daylight allows races to continue into late evening and weather conditions are ideal. In winter months, some events are possible, though snow transforms the surroundings into a winter sports area, which may affect accessibility.
The track is known for its midnight sun in summer, allowing races to take place under constant daylight, which offers an unusual experience for drivers and spectators. This extreme lighting situation is rare at racetracks worldwide and makes summer events here distinctive.
