Bhaktapur District spreads across hills and valleys in the eastern part of Kathmandu Valley, comprising four municipalities: Bhaktapur, Changunarayan, Madhyapur Thimi, and Suryabinayak. The area is known for its pottery tradition, particularly in Madhyapur Thimi, where craftspeople have produced and sold ceramic goods for generations. Workshops and open kilns are visible while walking through this community and speak to ongoing craft techniques.
