Army Public School Peshawar, English Medium school in the Pakistani city of Peshawar
Army Public School Peshawar is a school on Warsak Road, near Peshawar Cantt, that primarily educates children from military families. The grounds include classroom buildings, sports fields, and open assembly areas spread across the campus.
The school was founded to educate children of military personnel and was long regarded as a protected environment. On December 16, 2014, armed attackers stormed the campus, killing over 130 students, and the event transformed the way Pakistan approached school security nationwide.
The school draws its identity from the military families it serves, and this connection shapes daily life on the grounds. After the 2014 attack, it became a place where people gather to remember and to affirm that children deserve a safe education.
The campus sits on Warsak Road and is recognizable from the outside by its large school buildings and a secured entrance gate. As with most military-administered sites in Pakistan, access is restricted, so a visit requires prior authorization.
After the attack, a memorial was created on the grounds, and every December 16 people gather there to light candles for the victims. This annual ceremony draws people from across Pakistan and has turned the site into a national place of remembrance.
