Turnul Colței, Medieval bell tower in Bucharest, Romania
The 54-meter tower featured stone foundations, brick walls, a baroque roof with four turrets, and decorative elements including carved lions and eagle motifs.
Swedish soldiers constructed the tower between 1709 and 1714 during their retreat after defeat at Poltava, incorporating their military architectural knowledge into its design.
The entrance displayed stone carvings of two Swedish soldiers, marking the contribution of King Charles XII's army to the construction of this Romanian landmark.
The tower contained a 1700-kilogram bell and functioned as both a bell tower for Colțea Monastery and a fire observation point for the city.
Archaeological surveys in 1970 revealed the tower's foundation dimensions of 100 square meters, built with stone and river boulders mixed in mortar.
