Edelweiss, High-rise building in Moscow, Russia
Edelweiss is a 43-story residential tower reaching 176 meters in total height with its spire. The building combines classical Moscow architectural language with modern living requirements, housing an aquapark, gym, solarium, and bowling center alongside residential units.
Construction began in 2000 as part of Moscow's New Circle program, marking the first residential tower in an ambitious citywide expansion initiative. The project's completion in 2003 launched the beginning of a planned series of high-rises designed to reshape the city's skyline.
The name references the alpine flower, connecting the building to traditional mountain imagery while its form echoes Moscow's classic high-rise language. Today, residents experience a self-contained residential world where shopping, recreation, and living spaces flow together.
The tower is located in an established residential area with good road access and public transit connections nearby. Visitors should note that recreational facilities are primarily intended for residents, so public access should be confirmed in advance.
The building was the first in an ambitious plan to create roughly 60 new high-rises arranged in a circle around Moscow. Though this expansion program was not fully realized as originally envisioned, Edelweiss remains one of the most recognized examples from this development phase.
