National Ribat University, Universität in Sudan
National Ribat University is a higher education institution in Khartoum with over 18 faculties offering programs in medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, computer studies, law, languages, architecture, and media. The campus includes lecture halls, laboratories, a well-stocked library, and research centers where faculty and students work together on projects.
The university was founded in the year 2000 as part of a broader initiative to expand higher education access across the country. A historical predecessor, the Police Higher Academy, had existed since 1925 and reflects Sudan's long tradition of professional training institutions.
The university's name references a long tradition of Islamic learning centers. The campus serves as a gathering place where students spend their days attending classes, working on projects, and connecting with peers in shared study spaces.
The university accepts students from Sudan and abroad, with admission requiring high school completion and meeting established standards. Scholarships are available to help students finance their studies, allowing them to focus on their academics.
The university operates specialized research centers, including one focused on toxins and another on security and strategic issues. These centers allow students and researchers to work on practical solutions to real problems facing Sudan.
